About
After spending nearly 20 years in a firm setting, Kevin founded his own practice devoted to representing labor unions and non-profit organizations. Kristina joined shortly thereafter bringing a depth of experience in criminal defense.
Kevin Beck
Kevin advises labor unions on collective-bargaining rights and obligations, processing grievances, unfair labor practices, representation petitions, and everything in between. He has argued on behalf of Unions and their members in dozens of arbitration cases. Kevin has particular experience representing public employees in Minnesota with extensive knowledge of the Public Employment Labor Relations Act (PELRA), the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (MGPDA), and a government entity’s obligations under Minnesota’s Open Meeting Law (OML). Kevin also frequently advocates for veterans to enforce their rights under the Minnesota Veterans Preference Act and has presented CLEs on the VPA. Kevin provides training to union officers and stewards on union member rights under state and federal law. He has helped draft legislation to reinforce public employees’ rights in employment and has testified at the state legislature. Kevin serves as general counsel for several labor unions and non-profit corporations. In that role, he drafts and interprets contracts and advises corporations on statutory and regulatory compliance at the federal, state, and local levels. Kevin also appears on behalf of corporate clients in court and administrative proceedings. He has managed a variety of civil litigation files, both plaintiff and defense, from drafting pleadings to discovery and motion work, through verdict and appeals.
For almost 20 years, Kevin was a municipal prosecutor for several cities in Ramsey, Washington, and Dakota counties in misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor cases. Kevin has been frequently recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star, an honor bestowed upon less than 2.5% of eligible attorneys.
Kevin graduated from Monticello High School, is a 2005 graduate of Carleton College, and a 2008 graduate of Mitchell Hamline College of Law. Kevin is licensed in the States of Minnesota and Utah, United States District Courts for the Districts of Minnesota and Utah, and the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Kristina Borgen
Kristina has dedicated her career to criminal law. She has worked as a public defender in Beltrami, Stearns, and Washington Counties and has represented clients in private criminal cases throughout Minnesota, from Duluth to Bemidji, Saint Cloud to Stillwater, Anoka to Rochester, and everywhere between in DWI/DUI cases, vehicle forfeitures and license revocations, theft, criminal sexual conduct, controlled substance crimes, criminal damage to property, assault and disorderly conduct. Kristina has experience with domestic violence, including harassment restraining orders (HRO), domestic abuse no contact orders (DANCO), and domestic assaults. Kristina spent several years as a municipal prosecutor in Dakota, Ramsey, and Washington Counties to gain experience from the other side of the aisle while continuing to work as a private defense attorney.
She has tried multiple cases to jury verdict, including assault, drug crimes, criminal sexual conduct, arson, and kidnapping. Kristina successfully defended a client charged with first-degree homicide that resulted in acquittal. Kristina’s representation continues beyond a verdict, to include post-conviction relief, probation violation and probation revocation, and expungements. Kristina brings an experienced and reasonable eye to criminal defense. She earned the honors of Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2020, 2021, and 2022 and the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 under 40 in 2019.
Kristina graduated from Blane High School where she excelled as an athlete and remains the all-time leading scorer in hockey and all-time hits leader in softball. She spent four years on the ice with the Mavericks at Minnesota State University, Mankato before attending Mitchell Hamline College of Law. She is licensed in the State of Minnesota and the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.
